1956 Corvette with Duntov Cam Found In Missouri Basement
Well, the surprises never stop coming when it comes to an amazing barn-find and this story is a peach. It’s one thing to find a classic car in some old garage, beat to hell and rusting away, its another thing entirely when you find a 1956 Corvette that is 1 of just 111 ever built and in great condition.
“The guy parked the thing in his basement garage in 1983 for some reason, and I have no idea why.”
That was the question the new owner asked when he first heard of the sacred hidden vehicle stuck in a basement. Turns out the original owner loved the car but after a home invasion robbery left him beaten and in the hospital, he had to sell it to pay for his care.
The man who owned it, has his attorneys broker the deal and for months it was held up until the Kunz willed the sale into happening by offering the man $100,000 for the car. The attorneys accepted immediately and Kunz took possession within days.
With only 41,000 original miles on this beautiful 225-horsepower, 2×4 265ci V-8. , the new owner named Bob Kunz got the deal of the century. To his surprise the original owner had kept every piece of paper associated with the car. oil changes, gas, maintenance etc…it was all there. Not bad for a car estimated to be worth $200,000.
