1969 Dodge Charger "General Lee" Clone 25FT Jump at Autorama Detroit
The Autorama auto show is known for some really great hot rods and custom cars. The Detroit Autorama has been running since 1952, so this year they decided to do something really special.
Fans of the 1969 Dodge Charger may want to look away, because what you are about to see is stunt driver Raymond Kohn launch his redesigned “General Lee” tribute 25 feet in the air and 125 feet down the road at 55 MPH. Now in the show “Dukes of Hazzard,” the Duke boys would jump the river, the sheriff’s car would fall into the river, and the Duke boys would drive away unharmed no worse for the wear.
In real life, that’s not how it would go. In fact, it was a point of legend how many duplicates of the General show producers had to go through.
Raymond Kohn has made a living out of building 1969 Dodge Charger “General Lee” tribute cars and travels the country doing stunt shows complete with jumps. He is the owner of R/T Auto Repair in North East Ohio.
