This 1989 Camaro Is A Unique, Powerful, And Gorgeous Restomod
Pretty much every week, we see new restomods of old cars from the 1950s through to the 1970s. These are awesome, but it’s a rare and welcome sight when we see something outside of that niche. This 1989 Chevy Camaro is one such example. Last week, we discussed the fate that befell muscle cars in the 1970s, and while this era of the car aren’t as coveted as earlier examples, it’s still gorgeous. This pumped-up car is going to go on sale at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction, running from April 11-13. Want to know why this car should pique your interest?
The car is a rotisserie restoration, and that’s obvious when you look at it. It looks pristine, with its achingly cool body still inspirational today. It’s up there alongside the Lotus Esprit and the Ferrari Testarossa as one of the most beautiful cars of the era, in my opinion.
With its new twin-turbo 427 engine, it produces 800 horsepower. This engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The Camaro’s engine has been equipped with a 62mm intercooler, Hogans intake manifold, and a new FAST engine management system. The improvements don’t stop under the hood, though. There is a new 12-bolt Moser rear end with 308 Richmond gears, a custom chassis, BMR suspension, adjustable shocks, dual exhaust, Borla mufflers, and ABS power brakes.
The interior has been prettied up too. As well as looking brand new, it features a set of Dakota Digital gauges. If you want to drive the ultimate 80s machine, get yourself over to Palm Beach!
