Kevin Hart's New Hellcat-Powered Barracuda Is A Work Of Art

If you’ve been a Restomods reader for a while now, you’ll have heard me wax lyrical about the Plymouth Barracuda a lot. I’m far from the only person with an almost pathological love of the ‘Cuda. Apparently, Kevin Hart also shares this fondness. The comedian got himself a Hellcat-powered Barracuda for his 40th birthday, and it’s truly spectacular.

To start off, the 1970 Barracuda, named Menace, was built by Speedkore, who make some superb machines. For most people, simply owning a Speedkore Barracuda would be enough, but apparently not for Hart. He enlisted HP Tuners and Gearhead Fabrications to do a bit more work on the car. When we say a bit more, what we actually mean is quite a lot more. The most important modification is that Hellcat in question, fitted by HP. Providing the Barracuda with 707 horsepower, which is fed through a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. This transmission, found on Hellcat Chargers and Challengers, gives Hart plenty of power on tap.

Inside, the car has been tastefully, but extensively, modernized. There’s no gear shift lever, instead, there’s a rotary dial. The gauges and wheel are period-correct, pairing well with the cleaner, streamlined dash. Other modifications made to the interior include the new power windows and leather, neither of which look out of place. The exterior modifications are harder to spot, but readers with keen eyes will notice a couple. It’s got a lower stance, with wheels now tucked away under the fenders, there are custom exhaust bezels, and the window and drip rail moldings were removed. The body panels are another subtle upgrade, with the hood, front fenders and bumper, valance, and header panel made from carbon fiber.

The exact cost of this restomod isn’t known, but we very much doubt it was cheap, with a Speedkore Camaro costing Robert Downey Jr. around $275,000. Do you know what is cheap?
