Let's Turn a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner into RestoMods Royalty
Update: 8/8/2025
A little over a year ago we purchased a beautiful 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner from a local collector car dealership Bayside Auto. We knew it would be a candidate for a restomod because most everything on the car was not original, but overall the body was straight and we had been considering a Roadrunner build for quite some time. For months the car remained in its B5 blue color, but all that was about to change.
We stripped the car down and sent it off to paint at SV Body and Paint, where they took the car down to bare metal and laid down a fresh coat of Tuxedo Black, a color that has become synonymous with popular RestoMod giveaways.
Then, once the car came back to us, it sat dormant under a cover for a couple months, and then got pushed into the work bay to start getting assembled. As of the time of this writing, the team is currently painting the floor and trunk pans black, and will then Dynamat it. The Roadrunner’s 383ci V8 is now gone and will be replaced with the 440 that was in the red RM30 Dodge Charger before we Gen 3 HEMI swapped it. Reegan has just finished painting the block in a nice new black finish. There has been some interest in swapping the used Hellcat engine into the Roadrunner instead, but such a swap likely won’t meet our deadline to get this car finished in time to give to you all sometime in 2026. Stay tuned for more updates on yet another RestoMods giveaway build!
