Own The Ultimate 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner RestoMod
The Plymouth Road Runner was born from a singular, rebellious philosophy: strip away the unnecessary fluff, bolt in serious big-block power, and give enthusiasts maximum performance for minimal cash. Paying Warner Bros. for the rights to use the cartoon bird and engineering the iconic purple "beep-beep" horn, Plymouth didn't just build a muscle car in 1968; they captured counter-culture swagger in steel. Owning a Road Runner, especially the aggressively sculpted 1970 model, means commanding respect at any stoplight. It’s a badge of unapologetic, blue-collar American muscle history. Now, for the first time in our history, RestoMods is giving away a Road Runner. Unveiled on the world stage at SEMA 2026, this ground-up, frame-off masterpiece takes everything that made the original an icon and re-engineers it with precision pro-touring capability. Introducing RM36.

Engine and Powertrain
Under the hood sits a 440 cubic-inch Big Block Mopar re-built from the engine bay of RestoMods 30th giveaway vehicle, the 1970 Charger. Fuel delivery is modernized via a FiTech EFI Tri-power 'Six Pack" throttle-body setup, blending the visual heritage of Chrysler's triple-carb induction with crisp electronic throttle response. Front and center is a CVF Wraptor serpentine drive that cleans up the accessory routing and frees up space, while a set of Ringbrothers billet hinges keeps the hood gap tight and opens flat at shows. Clean, simple, and built to lay down rubber.
Thermal management is handled by a heavy-duty BeCool aluminum radiator assisted by twin Proform 12-inch brushless electric fans. Spent gases travel through ceramic-coated TTI Performance headers into a custom MagnaFlow stainless exhaust system, terminating in polished tips. Power is routed through a driver-focused Tremec TKX 5-speed manual transmission, offering crisp, short-throw shifts and an overdrive gear built for highway cruising. And nestled inside the bay, paying homage to its heritage, is an OEM patina “Voice of Road Runner” horn ready to sound off its signature beep-beep.
Exterior Styling and Custom Machining
Straight off the carpet at SEMA 2026, this 1970 B-body showcases sharp panel fitment accented by brand-new trim, chrome bumpers, and glass. The body lines are heightened by factory-style "Dust Trail" side graphics and contrasting custom matte stripes across the hood and decklid. Custom billet side scoops, CNC-machined specifically for this car by Trident Cycle Supply, add an aggressive three-dimensional edge to the quarter panels.
Sourcing parts for vintage Mopar platforms remains significantly more difficult than for high-volume GM vehicles. While GM builders have ready access to extensive catalog reproduction parts, vintage B-body restorations require navigating a much smaller aftermarket, higher parts costs, and limited availability for correct trim, sheet metal, and hardware.
Ringbrothers billet side mirrors modernize the profile without compromising classic proportions. Forward vision is upgraded with LED headlights that retain factory appearance while throwing modern lumens, complemented out back by rapid-fire DigiTails LED tail lamps. The stance is punctuated by chrome American Racing Groove wheels tucked neatly into the wells on aggressive Falken Azenis RT615K+ tires measuring 245s up front and fat 295s in the rear.
Chassis, Stance, and Footwork
The antiquated torsion bars and leaf springs of 1970 have been completely ditched for a pro-touring foundation. A comprehensive QA1 suspension system anchors the build, featuring a lightweight front K-member, tubular control arms, front and rear adjustable coilovers, and a rear 4-link conversion. QA1 rack-and-pinion steering transforms the factory wandering steering into razor-sharp corner tracking.
To eliminate B-body chassis flex under hard launches, Hotchkis welded subframe connectors bridge the unibody structure. Power hits the pavement through a bulletproof Currie 9-inch rear end. Massive Wilwood disc brakes, featuring 6-piston calipers biting up front and 4-piston calipers in the rear paired with a matching Wilwood master cylinder, bring this 440-powered brawler to a dead stop with modern supercar authority.
Customized Cockpit
Inside, the cabin blends classic Mopar architecture with bespoke craftsmanship. The centerpiece is a custom-modified factory bench seat upholstered by 1904 Customs, offering bolstered lateral support that keeps passengers planted during aggressive cornering. Modern 3-point seatbelts replace the factory lap belts for peace of mind.
The driver commands the machine via a Sparc Industries billet steering wheel mounted to an Ididit tilt steering column, with gear changes executed through an assertive shift handle topped by a custom Idle Hands knob. The dashboard integrates modern tech seamlessly: Dakota Digital gauges map real-time diagnostics inside period-correct fonts, a Vintage Air system provides ice-cold air conditioning (and heat), and a RetroSound head unit pumps modern Bluetooth audio without compromising the factory dash aesthetic.
