Ever wanted to see a Hot Rod and a Lamborghini go head-to-head in a battle for speed supremacy? Then you’re in luck, because today that’s just what we’ve got for you. In this video, a 2012 Lamborghini Aventador battles it out against a fully-custom Model A rat rod. Neither car is lacking in power. The Lamborghini is powered by a 396 ci V12 which produces 691 horsepower, while the dramatically chopped and dropped rat rod is driven by a small-block Chevy V8. Thing is, the rat rod was mostly designed as a showpiece, built by Hot Rod magazine for Sailor Jerry rum. Knowing this, how does it compare to the Lambo? Let’s find out.
When the rod finally gets going, after doing battle with a curb, it gets plenty of female attention, while the Lamborghini is favored by passing guys. Further woes befall the hot rod in LA traffic, with huge overheating problems being discovered. The plans to hit up Mulholland go out the window and the cars head out to the desert for a drag race to end all drag races. The results? Well, we’re not going to spoil it.
While the Lamborghini is far more refined and a better car to drive day-to-day (with a price to match), the rat rod is more entertaining. It looks cool, is beloved by passers-by, and has a ton of spirit. We’d not turn down the chance to jump in either.
